Portland Head Lighthouse, Maine
Located in Cape Elizabeth, Maine’s oldest lighthouse (it dates to 1791) is also one of the state’s most photographed landmarks.
This is a Blog Hop!
Thanks for linking me. I have added the link to my post.
I love photos of the sea and lighthouses. I am sure we visited this one when we were on a Canada/New England cruise several years ago. We did actually see quite a few lighthouses, so without looking through my photos I could be wrong. 🙂
I never pass up a lighthouse. They are most beautiful and reading about their history is wonderful. 🙂
It’s pretty. I can see why it’s one of the most photographed landmarks.
There is one on Kauai that’s even more beautiful. We stopped there when we were on our Hawaii cruise. 🙂
I wanna marry a lighthouse keeper and live in a house by the sea …
And this one will do fine!
It would be an adventure. It would be a fun thing to do. 🙂
So pretty! I love the idea of living in a lighthouse. It seems like such a romantic thing to me.
Me too and I would do it during the summer here. The winters are way too cold for me. 🙂
It’s beautiful what a great place to live the lovely view and fresh air 🙂
Have a seaviewtastic WWS ➡
Except the winters would be brutal. I am a fair weather kind of gal. 🙂
Nice place. Can hear the waves splashing against the rocks and feel the sea breeze blowing in your hair.
Yes indeed and that’s a good thing. I love the sea. 🙂
There are some gorgeous lighthouses around the world.
Yes there is and I’d like to see them all. 🙂
That sure is a gorgeous house and what a fun place to live. Sandee, you and Zane have one terrific day.
I’m sure it would be quite the adventure. Have a great day, Marg. 🙂
How pretty! I can see why it is one of the state’s most photographed landmarks.
Happy WW, Sandee!
Me too, Veronica. I would love to visit this lighthouse in person. 🙂
That sure is pretty but it’s way too cold up there this time of year!
I agree, Brian. In the summer I would go, but not in the winter. 🙂
What a beautiful lighthouse and location.
I love lighthouse. In 2015 we took a week long tour of lighthouses NC climbing all of them too .
Of course…there were several blog posts. LOL But then you probably guessed that
Hugs Cecilia
I would have done the same. I never miss and opportunity to visit a lighthouse. Hubby loves them too. Hugs back, Cecilia. 🙂
That is a nice light house. Have a great day! 🙂
If you’re into lighthouses it’s more than nice. I love all things that are on the ocean. 🙂
Can not return your comment on my blog as 15andmeowing does not show up ~ do you link here with another name? thanks ^_^
That’s a particularly nice looking lighthouse!
There are many beautiful lighthouses around the world. 🙂
Beautiful photo ~ Xox to you from me and zoe ~ ^_^
Happy Day to you,
A ShutterBug Explores,
Happy day to you and Ms. Zoe. 🙂
Nice in the summer, but it can be pretty cold and icy in the winter.
It would be a summer thing for me, not this time of year. 🙂
Good morning Sandee. This photo reminds me of one that I saw in Newfoundland. It’s very beautiful. See ya.
Cruisin Paul
Good Morning Paul. Yes there are many really neat lighthouses. Have a great day. 🙂
I’m all set for an episode of “Murder She Wrote”. I murdered someone in Cabot Cove but Jessica never found me out.
You do get around, Kismet. I love your sense of humor. 🙂
Ahhhh…the coast of Maine is one of my favorite places!! ♥
I would love to explore the coast of Maine, but in the fair weather month(s). 🙂
A lighthouse is one of those rare objects that everyone feels positive about.
I know I sure do. Such wonderful histories many of them have. 🙂
Thanks for linking us up. What a beautiful photo. I can see why it is visit and photographed often. Thanks for your kind words on today’s post. His, Janet
You’re more than welcome, Janet. I cry all the time because I miss our Little Bit so much. She was the best ever. 🙂
Lighthouses are so fascinating! What a stunning photo and it’s obvious why it’s so popular.
Fascinating is an excellent adjective. Yes, I can see why this place is so popular. 🙂
Wish I could teleport myself there! Happy New Year, my dear. Have a blessed day.
I’ll go with you, but during the summer if that’s okay. Happy New Year to you too. 🙂
Sandee, I love lighthouses. ((Hugs)) <3
Me too, Michelle. We have lots of them here in California and I never miss visiting them if we are near. Big hugs back. 🙂
That is so very beautiful. Thanks for sharing it.
It is beautiful and I would love to visit. 🙂
There are some lighthouses far north east around Door County but I made the mistake of driving up there with a questionable vehicle which died far from home. My friend, her dog and I were blank out of luck. Haven’t been back since. As a matter of fact I rarely travel east anymore but will drive pretty far west. Weird. Anyway, belated Happy Tuesday and happy middle of the week, Sandee.
I hate car problems. I spent my youth with cars that would die at the drop of the hat. I hated it. Happy middle of the week. 🙂
I had a car you had to spray ether in the carburetor to get it started. Yes, it often started on fire so it was a can of ether in one hand, rag to put it out in the other.
What a beautiful lighthouse. Looks very rugged. Now if the lighthouse had an elevator in it…I’d be very happy. hehe
Jean
Big hugs to you, Sandee.
Yes some of those stairs are murder. I’ll ride with you. Big hugs back. 🙂
Great history lesson for this Maine writer. Thanks! <3
I’ve always wanted to visit Maine. Perhaps this summer. 🙂
Betcha that lighthouse is haunted…aren’t they all haunted?!?
I don’t know if they are haunted. That makes them even more interesting. 🙂
After two days of bitter cold, that photo looks perfectly balmy…and balmy would be most welcome!
It’s pretty cold here too and I’d love to have some balmy. 🙂
🌴🌴🌴🌴🌴
Just got home from having lunch with m y oldest daughter and her children. We had tons of fun at Portillo’s & then went across the street to Goodwill. My grandsons are both so funny & my granddaughter who is also funny kept me in stitches all day. She’ll be graduating from high-school this year! Woo Hoo! Where did the time go!!! Well, I’m pooped… stop by to say hey… so HEY!!! BIG OL’ HUGS………. YOU’RE FAVORITE BUDDY WHO LUVS YA…. MEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
How fun to spend time with the grands. They are most precious. I love you back, Marie. 🙂
It’s lovely, i understand why everyone takes a picture!
There is a lighthouse in Kauai that is the most beautiful lighthouse I’ve ever seen. This one is close. 🙂
Beautiful! We’ve actually been there before, and the lighthouse is such a highlight. 🙂
I love lighthouses and never pass them by without stopping and exploring. 🙂
Anything on the water and I’m swept away.. 🙂 I love lighthouses and I’ve always wondered why more people didn’t live in them or if they even are livable. Every summer I used to take my oldest grandson to the lighthouses around the Great Lakes. Our goal was to visit every one of them and get Seth’s pic in front of all of them. We did pretty good but we’ve still got a few to go. 🙂
I’m the same way, if it’s on the water I’m in. You need to work on getting the rest of those shots of Seth and the lighthouses. 🙂
Yes, I do… <3
Sandee,
I love Portland Head Light! We’ve seen it a few times over the years and now DD#2 lives not far from this spot. She actually works in Portland. We hope to make a trip to Maine sometime this year if all goes well. 🙂 Have a wonderful day, my friend!
I’d love to see Maine period. All of it. You have a wonderful day too, Cathy. Big hug. 🙂
Llight houses have always fascinated me, both literally and figuratively. I climbed the steps to the one in St. Augustine, FL and thought I was going to DIE!! Lovely photo. xoxo
Beautiful, but I bet it is soooo cold there right now!!
I’m sure it is. It looks it. 🙂
