The difference of approaches in California versus Texas!
CALIFORNIA:
A coyote jumps out and attacks the Governor’s dog, then bites the Governor.
The Governor starts to intervene, but reflects upon the movie “Bambi” and then realizes he should stop because the coyote is only doing what is natural.
He calls animal control. Animal Control captures the coyote and bills the state $200 testing it for diseases and $500 for relocating it.
He calls a veterinarian. The vet collects the dead dog and bills the State $200 testing it for diseases.
The Governor goes to hospital and spends $3,500 getting checked for diseases from the coyote and on getting his bite wound bandaged.
The running trail gets shut down for 6 months while Fish & Game conducts a $100,000 survey to make sure the area is now free of dangerous animals.
The Governor spends $50,000 in state funds implementing a “coyote awareness program” for residents of the area.
The State Legislature spends $2 million to study how to better treat rabies and how to permanently eradicate the disease throughout the world.
The Governor’s security agent is fired for not stopping the attack.
The state spends $150,000 to hire and train a new agent with additional special training re the nature of coyotes.
PETA protests the coyote’s relocation and files a $5 million suit against the state.
TEXAS:
The Governor of Texas is jogging with his dog along a nature trail.
A coyote jumps out and attacks his dog.
The Governor shoots the coyote with his state-issued pistol and keeps jogging.
The Governor has spent $.50 on a .45 ACP hollow point cartridge.
The buzzards eat the dead coyote.
And that, my friends, is why California is broke and Texas is not. I live in California (and this is what would happen) and I should be living in Texas. Sigh!

That's totally mad surely lol Texas definitely has more sense
Have a coyotelesstastic day :-h
Well, I do hate this state, but we have a mother that's still alive and we care for her. Can't leave. 🙁
I used to live in California. That seems right.
Now it's transgender boys that can go into the girls locker rooms at school. Way over the top. Nuts is what the people are that are running this state. 🙁
Silly California but that is so believable. Good story. You have a great day Sandee, Zane and Little Bit
Yep, it's pretty sad some of the stuff that happens here. 🙁
Is California still part of the USA? I thought it broke off or somethin'.
big hugs xoxo
Mexico has pretty much taken it back where we live. English is the second language here. 🙁
I love it. Get a new Governor or get a gun. Have a wonderful Thursday Sandee. See ya.
Cruisin Paul
We have the guns. Lots of them too Paul. 🙂
Moral of the story:
It is difficult to live in California with too many legal tangles despite the moderate weather conditions.
Have a great day!
Very moderate weather conditions. That's the plus side. 🙂
You can insert Washington State in place of California. After all, we are California lite. Ugh…
I know. You can include Oregon in the mix too. It's a shame. 🙁
LOL I wouldn't live in either state!
We're thinking Utah or maybe Nevada. Idaho perhaps in the summer months. 🙂
oh my goodness…..it would be really funny if it wasn't a good portrayal of what goes on in a lot of US states. Seriously!
Yep, and it's not funny. 🙁
The security agent gets fired in California? You can't do that. That security agent would be put on paid administrative leave for three months while a determination is made by a committee. The decision would be that the security agent shouldn't be in the field anymore but wouldn't object to being a supervisor and getting a big raise in pay.
The unions and the environmentalist run this state. 🙁
It's what we do in Arizona too! A coyote chased us on our way to school last week and from now on I am packing just in case we meet up again on our walk!
Yep, it's what I'd do here too, but I'm guessing I'd end up in jail or worse. California is nuts. 🙂
I have never been to Cali., but I love that it isn't cold like it is here!! I have consistently read about the politics though… probably could get a tad annoying. 😉
It's more than a tad annoying. It makes you want to pull out your hair. 🙁
Where we live, it would depend on which governor! We've had most kinds, including the ones who line their own pockets.
Yep, to get rich just go into politics and then hear them bad mouth the 1%. Most of them are in the 1%. Crooks. 🙂
I would do quite well in Texas, well, me and my Lady Smith & Wesson 637, a 38 special with a laser sight (not that I need it to shoot – my husband knows how much I love laser pointers).
BTW Gov. Perry carries a .380 Ruger with a laser pointer. It's a smaller caliber and probably cheaper than a .45 caliber slug. He saved Texas even more money 🙂
I like Perry. He gets it. 🙂
it's a crazy world.
It is indeed Ann. Scritches to Gibbs. 🙂
Not so good if you're the coyote, though!
This is true Binky. 🙂
Change the state name to Georgia and you would be spot on. D fer done. We ha e too much guvmint and environmentalists in this country. Sheesh.
Big hugs, honey…
We just may do that honey. I sure hate California. 🙂
OHHHHH But the Coyote's baby is in the woods watching and is scarred for life!!!! HA HA HA!!!!
That could be, but you're not allowed to hurt my dog or bite me. 🙂
And then the California Franchise Tax Board would try to find the money to do all this by harassing out of state taxpayers who don't have CA source income from flow through entities for the $800 minimum tax causing years of letters back and forth with them and CPAs! *sigh* I had a long day so I'm sure this makes no sense but the FTB is a PITA!
Happy almost Friday Sandee! Smooches to Little Bit!
I think I get this just fine. The red tape here is something else. Big business complain about it all the time. Often they move their businesses to some other state. 🙂
That's why I love living in Texas. We lived briefly in California in the seventies when Hubs was stationed at Merced/Atwater. Loved the weather, but not the crazy people. This was during the Patty Hearst kidnapping. Being a little southern girl, I had my eyes opened. Of course, Texas has its fair share of crazies.
I would bet I would love living in Texas too. I sure hate everything about California except the weather. 🙂
Dear Sandee, It seems everything must be done is a confusing manner these days. xoxo Catherne
I agree Catherine. Way to confusing too. 🙂
laughing, nostalgia works in funny ways. I’m nostalgia for California for the way they encourage artists at all stages (Arizona it’s a lot tougher at the beginning and middle stages) and for the food. Omg! if you know where to go, it’s cheap too. Sighs. I really really miss the food.
