The Auzzie Visit

I’m thankful for the visit with Phil from Australia and how “G” dock at Delta Marina Yacht Harbor stepped up to the plate. What a fun weekend.  Phil was only with us for roughly 48 hours, but we made the most of every hour.

Hubby and I left Thursday afternoon for the boat right after our brother in law showed up to take care of Little Bit for the weekend. We got to the boat, did some errands and had dinner. We then enjoyed a quiet evening because we weren’t going to have one of those again until Monday.

Friday it was up, clean up the boat, shower and get ready to head to the city to pick up Phil. We were to meet at a local hotel in South San Francisco around 5pm.

Meet Phil. He left Perth, Australia on September 18th and has spent time in New York City and New Jersey, he also visited Phoenix, Arizona for a spell before heading to San Francisco to meet us.

We loaded his luggage into our vehicle and hit the commute traffic back to Rio Vista. We made it back in time for a nice dinner at Lucy’s Cafe and then to our motel rooms in Rio Vista. We decided to get a room there too so we could visit for a bit. That involved him drinking a few beers and us having a bit of champagne.

Saturday morning we were up, showered and headed out for breakfast. Then we were off to the boat to cruise over to Rio Vista with our boating buddies, Duffy, Georgia and Brandi (the cutest little dog who owns Duffy and Georgia). Yes, we left Rio Vista by car to return to Rio Vista by boat. We dock in “G” shed with a bunch of other folks and Phil finally gets to meet his translator Jonathan. The photo below is Nancy and Jonathan. Jonathan was born and raised in Australia.

Phil and I decided to hang out together on the dock at party central. This is a slip that has been converted to party central. You can dine, cook, and do dishes. It has a full refrigerator that always has It’s It Ice Cream. What a fun place to hang out. Well, there is usually some kind of adult beverage too.

Food is an essential part of boating. Food shows up from one boat or another and it seems to happen all day long. You really need to be careful to save some room for dinner.

We’ve spent the first 24 hours with Phil and have had lots of food, some cold adult beverages, and a great time. Saturday we’ll cover the last 24 hours.
