I’m thankful that I got to watch the 4th season of House of Cards.
If you’ve not watched it and you have Netflix, please treat yourself to a great series.
I love this show!
Love House of Cards theme song.
I’m thankful that we had lots of rain this week. We had a dry spell where spring showed up for several weeks. It’s good to get back to the wet weather for a bit.
I’m thankful that hubby got through a couple of rough spots this last couple of weeks. He lost his sister one week and then the day after she was buried her daughter died. It’s been very trying to say the least. They were both ill for a long time, but you never quite prepare for someone’s death.
I’m thankful that hubbies mother turned 96 this past Tuesday. She’s frail and tired. We helped her celebrate her birthday. On Wednesday evening she was admitted to the hospital. Prognosis is not good. It’s as if she’s given up since her daughter died. We’ve not told her that her granddaughter has died as we’re afraid it will be too much for her. The cruise we had planned for this weekend has been cancelled. Life happens when you plan for other things.
What are you thankful for today?

So sorry for your loss. Hugs to you and to your husband. Sending prayers for the whole family.
Thanks honey, it's been a rough patch and it's not over. 🙂
I'm sorry to hear so much is going on, and that it's going on at the same time. 🙁
Well, I'm sorry too that I put just that on a Thankful Thursday post because it's nice that you're finding things to be thankful for too! Hoping your husband's mom is home soon. Hugs to you!
It feels like everything is happening at the same time. Too much going on. 🙂
There are always things to be thankful for, but it's been a long row of ugly lately. 🙂
Oh honey… Please give Zane a love hug from me and have him give you back a love hug from me, too. xoxo 🙁
Will do Barb. It's a bit rough around here. 🙂
I am so sorry you are having to go through all of this in such a short time span. I now understand your comment on my blog much better. I'll be keeping all of you in my prayers.
Thank you for the prayers. 🙂
Yikes, poor you and poor Zane. I am so sorry about all this. It is very sad when people die. I send huge hugs to both of you and so glad you are still thankful for so many things. We are just thankful to have you two in our lives.
Thanks Marg. The first two were very young and mom wants to be with her daughter so she says. 🙂
I'm so sorry to hear of the loss Zane's sister and niece. I will say a prayer for both of them and give him our love. We have to gave thanks each day to God for soon He will ask each one of us to come back home to Him.
Love, Hope & Strength to All Sandee & Zane. See ya.
Cruisin Paul
Thank you Paul. Prayers are always a nice thing. 🙂
I'm so very sorry to hear about your losses and your mother-in-law's health issues. You're right – life does happen when you plan for other things.
I loved the first three seasons of House of Cards, but don't have Netflix 🙁
Mother has decided she's done with all treatment so hospice care is in the works.
Season four did not disappoint. 🙂
Oh Sandee, I'm so sorry to hear this news. My heart is with you and Zane during this difficult time. Sending comforting purrs and hugs.
Thanks for the comforting purrs and hugs. 🙂
What a difficult time, sorry for your losses.
Thanks Joe, it's been challenging. 🙂
Oh no a sister and a niece. That is very sad. I am so sorry for your loss. Hugs to you and your hubby as you all have a lot going on right now.
We do and it seems to be continuing in the same direction. I don't think mother has long. 🙂
So sorry for your losses! It's never easy to be reminded of the fragility of life itself while saying goodbye to people we love.
It's not easy at all. 🙂
It can't be easy on you either.
Not as hard on me as it is one hubby, but no it's not easy on me either. 🙂
It's good that you recognize good things to be thankful for. I am sorry about your family's loss and health issue.
I am a fan of Netflix myself, the way it bookmarks my shows down to the last views I have seen. I have no cable as I am too cheap to pay for that. 🙂
Thank you Carin. I appreciate it. 🙂
I am so deeply sorry to hear of the loss of your husband's mother and sister. That is so much for one person to have to bear in such a short period of time. Sending love and gentle (((hugs))) and prayers. xoxoxo catchatwithcarenandcody
Thank you for being such a good friend Caren. Scritches to the babies. 🙂
I am so sorry to hear of your families losses my thoughts are with you both
Best wishes
Steve
Thanks Steve. It's been quite the ride of late. 🙂
Huge hugs for hubby. I need to watch that show. Haven't dived in yet.
I'll give him your hugs.
I love that show and am ready for it every single March. 🙂
So sorry for your losses. I hope this week is a good one for you. Big hugs!
Lydia
Thank Lydia. I hope things get better soon. 🙂
Big hugs across the miles for you, hubby & family. I pray that if time decides to rest upon your mother in law, when ever it comes, it will be a peaceful respite for her & those she leaves behind.
Hoping for sunshiny days ahead for all of you.
We are hoping for the same thing Faythe. She's so frail and so very tied. She says she is ready to go. 🙂
Such a big loss so close together. So sorry.
Thanks Ann, it's been way too close together. The day after we buried Zane's sister her daughter died. We weren't ready for that. 🙂
I'm watching Real Housewives seasons on Hulu…so that tells you a LOT about my viewing taste! I tried to watch House of Cards but I was having a hard time getting into the first episode. Maybe I should give it another chance.
I've never watched Real Housewives. I hear it's funny. 🙂
Sweetie is thankful he got the ironing done, and i am grateful i didn't have to do it (especially since the only stuff that needs ironing is his!).
You do enough already. Enjoy not having the ironing to do this week. 🙂
thank goodness for your good health and we are so sorry to hear about Zane's family- that is far too much to take in all at once. Take it easy – and lots of good thoughts and best wishes for all the family.
Yes, it's way too much indeed. Enough is enough. 🙂
So sorry to hear the sad news about your hubby's sister and niece and it must be really tough to handle both losses so close to each other. And also the failing health of your hubby's mother. May God's peace, strength and love be with you and your hubby. We can be thankful for the lives of those we love, even though they may have passed on. And also thankful for those who are around us. I am thankful for you, Sandee, for your entertaining posts and very encouraging comments on my blog too! Thank you, Sandee!
Thank you for such a lovely comment Nancy. I still want to go with you on a foodie run and would love to see your garden in person. 🙂
Life indeed does have a way of changing our plans. Sorry to hear about the losses in your family. We have reached the age when these events occur more often than we care to acknowledge.
On a brighter note, I am thankful for digital photography. I have always enjoyed photography, but digital has changed everything. I can take as many photos as I like, process the best ones in PhotoShop and share them with the world. This is so much better than film and the dark ages of the dark room (which I never tried to do).
Hubby and I talked about reaching an age when this happens so often. It's the circle of life.
I do enjoy your photography and I agree about digital photography. 🙂
Oh so heartbreaking to read of your loss'. Sending big virtual hugs and lots of real prayers.
Thanks Lisa, it's been a trying time. 🙂
Oh honey, that is just too much loss at one time. Please feel my prayers and hugs for you both at this difficult time, especially since it seems there is another funeral in the near future. Breathe…and know that Spring and good things are coming.
Much love to you and Zane, today and always…
It's too much indeed. Hubby has a hospice appointment this morning. He's not looking forward to it, but it has to be done. 🙂
That is terrible news. I'm very sorry for you and your hubby and his family. It must be a very trying time.
It is a very trying time Binky. We're managing, but it is trying and tiring. 🙂
Sorry to read about your MIL. It must be a very difficult time for your family. {{hugs}}.
It is indeed. Too much and too close together. 🙂
