It’s Thankful Thursday hosted by Brian of Brian’s Home. He wants us to post what we’re thankful for.
I think it’s a good thing to do each week. Focus on the positive things in our lives.
Make sure you link up to the Blog Hop at Brian’s Home and get the code to put on your blog. Then visit all the participants.
I’m thankful that hubby and I took a cruise by ourselves last month. Organized cruises aren’t fun for us anymore. We decided to have some fun by ourselves. It exceeded our expectations and then some.
Our first stop was Bridge Marina Yacht Club. We ran into many folks that we already knew and had a great evening of fellowship and a fabulous meal.
Our second stop was Pittsburg Municipal. We got gas and then tied up for the night. There was a music festival in the parking lot and the music was awesome. We had dinner with a dear friend at La Veranda. It couldn’t have been a better day.
Our next stop was Delta Marina Yacht Harbor. We met with our friends and treated them to dinner at the Point Restaurant for his 80th birthday. It was a wonderful evening and visit.
My biggest thankful was getting under a bridge that was not operational. We checked low tide for the day we headed home and low tide at the bridge was 8:08 am. We were there at 8:08 am and got under the bridge with room to spare. Saved us about three hours in travel time.
What are you thankful for today?
That sounds like a wonderful time. So much nicer when you can do what you want when you want instead of following a schedule and waiting for other people.
We didn’t have a schedule and that’s what made this most enjoyable. We took turns driving the boat and just enjoyed our cruise. 🙂
Mom thinks branching out and following your own agenda is almost always better than traveling in a herd. That’s awesome you had such a good time, and met up with friends too!
Your mom is right and it sure took us long enough to figure that out. We’ve got it now. 🙂
Oh my word does that sound like the perfect way to travel….and a music festival too. We two also enjoy our own excursions
stopping and starting when we please.
Hugs Cecilia
It is and we had a great time. The music festival was wonderful. Upscale bands and they weren’t so loud you couldn’t think. Such fun and some really great music. 🙂
We are thankful that you had such a good cruise. Good fun and good good. Sandee, you and Zane have a super day.
It was a fabulous time, Marg. So glad we’re changing up our boating. It’s all about us. 🙂
I love that you did your own cruise – sounds like a very nice time.
Here in GA – I am thankful that we have a/c and I can afford it. So nice!
sandie
Hubby and I have come to the conclusion that it’s just the two of us. We are what counts. I am thankful for air conditioning here too. We’ve had a hot summer. 🙂
Oh I LOVE that you and hubby had your OWN cruise!! Spontaneous is always better!!! We are thankful for YOU!!!! Have a great day! xoxo
Yes, we’re liking our new way of boating a lot. 🙂
That sounds lovely. I’m glad you enjoyed yourselves. ~hugs~ Be well!
We so enjoy being together and when we’re on a cruise it’s even more enjoyable. It’s our passion. You be well too, Darla. 🙂
What a wonderful cruise you had! I am glad everything went so well.
It was perfect, Viola. We’re going to do another cruise in a couple of weeks. 🙂
Your cruising adventure sounds like it couldn’t have turned out better, hooray! Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
It couldn’t have turned out better. Well perhaps a bit cooler would have been nice, but outside of that it was perfect. 🙂
Having your cruise can be very enjoyable. Everything according to your own time and way, free and easy.
Yes, that’s exactly what we did. Our own time table. Far less stress. 🙂
That sounds like a great cruise. Nice you still got to see friends even though your cruised alone. Have a great day! XO
There are always friends along the way. The nice thing about this cruise is we aren’t all rafted up together. It’s just to much for us anymore. You have a great day too, Ellen. 🙂
Nice….crusing on top of the way is cool. I love water, I love to get in it, however, I have the most respectful fear of it. No horsing around in it with me. I love boating and I love going on a big ship cruise but….I know my limits with water. So glad you had a great time. Have a good day.
I don’t mess with the water either. Safety first when we boat. It’s the only way to boat. 🙂
It sounds like you are having a brilliant time! Being by yourselves is a good thing.
Yes we are. It was time to do it our way. We are most happy about it too. 🙂
I can understand that being part of an organized group would soon lose appeal. I have learned to avoid tour groups. Your voyage sounds perfect with just the two of you.
It has lost it’s appeal and when there are people you just don’t want to be around in the mix (drama queens – male and female) and then there is the toxic folks. If I don’t see them again it will be a week to soon. 🙂
Wow Sandee, that sounds wonderful! I am thankful you and the hubby got to spend some quality time together. Isn’t that way more fun than an ‘organized cruise’ anyway? 🙂
I am thankful that there are still people out there who look to support other people in achieving their dreams and goals. You are one of them. To me, we need to bring back caring in this world. More compassion, more empathy and more concern for our fellow people. We need each other more than we realize. God created each of us with a purpose and a plan. We are better together.
oops! I’ll get off my soapbox now. 😛 Lots of love heading your way Sandee. Wishing you a blessed rest of the week ♥
And you’re one of those people that support others. Good for you because you’re one of them too. Yes we are better together. 🙂
Sounds like you and hubby had such a wonderful time! 😀
We did. We read and watched the boats come and go. Enjoyed the sounds and sights of being on the water. 🙂
That sounds so relaxing and enjoyable. I’m afraid my weekend was spent in hospital with pneumonia. Sigh. First time for both experiences. But home now and mending!
Feel better soon, Linda. ♥
Reminds me of a line from an old, old tune:
“Low Bridge! Everybody down!
Low Bridge, ’cause we’re coming to a town!”
Well there is that. If we would have had to go back the way we came it would have taken us an extra three hours. We were happy to get under that bridge. 🙂
Oh sounds like a delightful time on the water ~ Bravo to you ^^ ~ Wish Zoe and I had been with you! Xox to you from me and Zoe ^^
Happy Day to You,
A ShutterBug Explores,
aka (A Creative Harbor)
I wish you could have gone with us too. We had a great time. 🙂
A cruise is a cruise. My type of cruise or your cruise, they are all for enjoyment. I glad that you were got under that bridge and that you and your hubby enjoyed your cruise. See ya Sandee.
Cruisin Paul
You like the big ships and we like our own boat. Far more fun for us. 🙂
The dogs are not thankful. They found out that they have less than 3 weeks until a trip to the groomer.
Oh they won’t like that will they. They will be giving the peeps the cold shoulder for a bit. Not that you care about that, Kismet. 🙂
Hi Sandee, just the two of you cruising around in your boat sounds so nice. Being able to pick and choose what you do and where you stop sounds a dream and meeting up with friends along the way? What could be better?
Right now I am thankful that there are only a few more weeks of the tourist season left. It’s been a long and hot summer!
xx
Yes, there is great freedom in that. We get along well so being on a boat for days doesn’t bother us one bit. Yes, it’s been a lot hot summer. 🙂
ooh how lovely! Sounds idyllic. I can see why you would be thankful for that. I’m thankful for so many things I don’t know what to say…it sounds really sugary, but I am so thankful that my husband is the kind of man he is.
We love our boat and we love to cruise on our boat. It’s a wonderful venue for us. I’m thankful for my wonderful husband too, Gilly. We’re lucky gals for sure. 🙂
Since I’m inland, it’s a special luxury being able to travel on water. Glad you were able to experience a good time.
We’ll do this more often. It was pure heaven. 🙂
So jealous! ⛵️
It sounds perfect! Glad you had a wonderful time, you deserve it.
It was the best time ever. I can’t remember anything as nice as this cruise. 🙂
Awesome alone time with hubby!! ((Hugs))
Yes it was, Michelle. It was most wonderful. Hugs back. 🙂
I am glad you had such a lovely cruise. Going on your own means you can go where you want when you want and don’t have to make group decisions, or worse still, not having your ideas listened to.
We cruise on the big ships but always do our own thing when onboard. We get a cabin with a bigger balcony and love to sit out in the evening with a bottle of wine (or gin!) and watch the waves go past.
You know how to cruise. Way to go. I’d do the same thing. Like the balcony and the wine. 🙂
Today? For my family 🙂
Yes, that’s a good thankful every day. 🙂
Sandy, i hope you and Mr. Zane enjoy many more solo cruises together.
We hope we do too, J. It was most wonderful. 🙂
Sounds like a lovely cruise!
We had the best time ever. It’s the way to go for us. 🙂
Oh how fun! I love that you share your boating adventures with us 🙂
Some love boating and some don’t. I’m glad you enjoy hearing about our adventures. 🙂
It sure sounds like you and hubby had a great time on your cruise.
Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber
Yes we did and we’re not going to do organized boating anymore. 🙂
Thankful for a phone call from daughter, a sunny day, and a monarch butterfly in my garden! 🙂
I wish I could call my mom. When she was here I called her every single day. 🙂
I Love You my Beautiful Wife
Thank you my only. I love you to the moon and back. 🙂
It sounds like a wonderful time! I don’t enjoy doing organized stuff anymore either – I prefer to just take things as they come. 🙂
That’s what we intend to do from now on. It was most wonderful. 🙂
