It’s Thankful Thursday hosted by Brian of Brian’s Home. He wants us to post what we’re thankful for.
I think it’s a good thing to do each week.
Focus on the positive things in our lives.
Make sure you link up to the Blog Hop at Brian’s Home and get the code to put on your blog. Then visit all the participants.
A foursome of senior golfers hit the course with waning enthusiasm for the sport. “These fairways seem to be getting longer and longer,” said one of the foursome.
“And these hills are getting steeper as the years go by,” another complained.
“The sand traps seem to be bigger than I remember them, too,” said the third senior.
After hearing enough from his buddies, the oldest, and the wisest of the four of them at 87 years old, piped up and said, “Oh my friends, just be thankful we’re still on this side of the grass!”
I’m thankful that I still have a sense of humor about getting old.
What are you thankful for today?
I am thankful that as I’m getting older I still have most of my health, knock on wood.
That makes two of us. 🙂
Sandee,
The 4th senior is very wise and so right. We need to remember this instead of complaining about why we can’t do the same things that we once did and enjoy where we are now in life.
Being thankful for you’ve got is a sign of a good heart. 😉
Happy TT!
Yes he is. He’s a wise one indeed. I want to see the positive in life and not dwell on the negative. 🙂
Well they say getting old isn’t for sissies and the older I get the more I realize how true that is…lol A sense of humor is essential and I’m thankful I have one.
Yes the older I get I realize the same thing. I have a wonderful sense of humor and I plan on keeping it. 🙂
That’s a great quote/story. (Not quite sure what to call it.. a Snippet perhaps?)
It’s really a joke. It just resonated with me. 🙂
One can get caught up in all the negativity in the world. The news media always finds the bad, are rarely posts uplifting stories. It’s always good to be thankful and focus on the good in your life.
Now you know why I don’t have television. Too much negative. I prefer to look at all the positive things. 🙂
Getting older is not fun but it sure beats the alternative. Just have to keep plugging along. Sandee, you and Zane have a marvelous day.
I agree, Marg. I enjoy every single day of my life. 🙂
That’s some real commen sense thinking! Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
Thank you for hosting the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop. 🙂
Positive thinking is definitely the way to go!
Yes it is. Positive wins every time. 🙂
I agree with that old guy, just be thankful we’re still on this side of the grass!” See ya Sandee.
Cruisin Paul
Yes and I plan on living it to its fullest. Happy day, Paul. 🙂
Cute story and it sends a good message. Happy Thursday!
That was my goal, Eugenia. 🙂
I am thankful for those moments during tough times that just make you pause a moment and smile! 🙂 And of course, I’m always grateful for our cat Dizzy who is always doing something plain crazy to make us laugh 😀
Much love to you! And I’m thankful for your blog (seriously!) that makes me smile every time I visit!
If we focus on the positive we’re going in the right direction. 🙂
You are exactly right! ♥
wonderful post about being thankful ~ I am thankful for it all ~ especially little Yorkie and thank you, Sandee for being you ~ Xox from ‘Us’ ^_^
Happy Days to you,
A ShutterBug Explores,
aka (A Creative Harbor)
I love Ms. Zoe too. I’m thankful I found the both of you. 🙂
We should all be grateful to be on this side of the grass even with the aches ans pains of growing older.
The aches and pains are manageable. It’s all good. 🙂
Old age ain’t for sissies that is a fact! Prayers appreciated as I head to my appt. this morning. I could not get my photo to share at Brian’s argh…… BUt thanks for sharing and this was a nice share today. HUGS and LOVE
We’re doing pretty good here. Lots slower, but we’re still on our feet. Hugs and love back. 🙂
The Hubby and I often say, “It’s better on the green side of the grass!”
Yes it is. I love being on this side of the grass too. 🙂
That’s a good lesson! I love getting older as my perspective is SO much more down to earth than when I was younger. I don’t enjoy the aches and pains though – MOL!
I’m far happier in my skin now than in my youth. 🙂
OH I LOVE THAT PUNCH LINE POSITIVE IS ALWAYS BETTER THAN NEGATIVE
HUGS CECILIA
Yes it is and there so much negative. Hugs back. 🙂
Yes, a sense of humor definitely helps as you get older. If I didn’t have my sense of humor, I would have to cry! 🙂
There are times I feel the same way. 🙂
I’m thankful to have gotten myself to the gym two days in a row. Feels good getting back in the groove after my anxiety flareup. Be well, my dear!
Working out is a good thing. I need to do the same. You be well too, Darla. 🙂
That is very true what the fourth golfer said.
I think a sense of humour is essential as you get older!
A sense of humor is a very good thing. 🙂
Taking life with a little bit of humor is the best way.
If we all look on the brighter side of things it’s a good thing. 🙂
Grateful for family and for another day to enjoy them! 🙂
I’m grateful for the same thing, Better. 🙂
I am thankful for all the people who help rescue animals! They make the world a better place!
Yes they do. They are more than deserving too. Love to all. 🙂
Good afternoon, Sandee!
I’m happy it has been nice and warm here. It’s been in the 80s and will be up to 90 or so next week!
Here’s a joke or funny I read the other day:
Why do golfers wear two pairs of pants?
Because they know they will get a hole in one. 🙂
We are having a nice warm day here too. I’m wearing a short sleeve shirt today. It’s wonderful day.
Love the joke. 🙂
I’m thankful my hubby got his hard cast today a will be able to get around better. He’ll be in it 4 weeks. ((Hugs))
Oh goody. It will make things easier. Have a great day. 🙂
Hey Sandee~ thankful to have waken up this morn! Thankful for the new fencing in the backyard for the doggies….okay, for me! haha
You’re always thankful. I like that about you. 🙂
We can’t stop getting older so we might as well be positive. 🙂
Hubby and I laugh at ourselves all the time. It’s a good thing. 🙂
It won’t be long before my contacts list will have more doctors than friends. Just thankful that my health issues are still manageable.
I’m pretty much there already. Nothing serious, but there are things that happen as we age that needs checking often. It’s all good. L(
It’s certainly nice to be seen and not viewed.
Amen. 🙂
We are big believers of living each day to the fullest…positive thinking is key!
It’s the only way to be. Positive is so much better than negative. 🙂
I am thankful I am still healthy and see and also get to blog. So thankful for each new day.
I know you are, Nancy. It shows. 🙂
Laughter is good for the soul & keeping a sense of humour is so important for dealing with stress, age, health issues, life in general! xx
I’ve a wicked sense of humor. Sometimes it gets me into trouble. 🙂
No fun without a little trouble every now and then! 😀
I had more than a little trouble now and then. It was a mission. 🙂
Such a positive post! There’s so much power in practicing gratitude!! Thanks so much for sharing 🙂 I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
I’m on WordPress too and would love to connect with you!! Here’s my latest post if you’d like to give it a read sometime!!

I like that! A good sense of humor really is the make or break thing in life I think.
Yes it is. We can cry or laugh. I’m going to laugh. 🙂
