It’s Thankful Thursday hosted by Brian of Brian’s Home. He wants us to post what we’re thankful for.
I think it’s a good thing to do each week. Focus on the positive things in our lives.
Make sure you link up to the Blog Hop at Brian’s Home and get the code to put on your blog. Then visit all the participants.
I’m thankful hubby enjoys Christmas. When we first got together he didn’t like Christmas at all. His former life wasn’t a happy one and Christmas just wasn’t on his radar. Our first Christmas together there were no decorations or Christmas dinner. My family didn’t visit as they usually did. Zane came and went several times during the day.
The second year when Christmas was nearing he made it apparent that he was ready to celebrate with all the decorations and a big family meal. We had a fabulous time decorating and our family meal was such fun. It was one of my favorite Christmases.
I’m thankful that we had so many wonderful Christmas seasons together. We decorated to the nth degree and had a ball with family and friends. We no longer decorate or do the family meals, but we sure did enjoy them when we did. Now we just spend the day together and have a special meal without all the leftovers. It works for us and I’m thankful for each Christmas we share together.

I think that’s wonderful that you were able to give Zane the joy of Christmas. We should all spend Christmas the way we want to. People tend to put too much pressure on themselves trying to create the perfect day.
Today I think I am just thankful for everything.
He did it all by himself. Yes we should spend Christmas anyway we want. I’m thankful for everything too. 🙂
We are so happy that you made a Christmas lover out of your hubby. It’s such a special time of year.
He helped a lot with that. He just accepted Christmas and was always there to help in anyway with shopping, wrapping, decorating and cooking. I’m a lucky gal, Miss Molly. 🙂
How wonderful that Zane learned to enjoy Christmas! Mom loves the big family get togethers but they don’t happen much anymore and she misses them. Christmas is quieter now, but we all still enjoy it.
He jumped right in that second year we were together. I think sometimes he enjoyed it more than I did. Ours is quiet now, but we still enjoy Christmas. 🙂
Awww, Sandee, what a wonderful story. I am glad you were able to get Zane in the Christmas spirit. Hubby and I both enjoy Christmas and enjoy decorating. It’s a magical time of the year. Happy Thursday. 😊
I didn’t do anything. I just think he knew how much it meant to me so he joined in. It’s been wonderful. Happy Thursday. 🙂
I am glad that Zane learned to enjoy Christmas. We don’t decorate much now as it is only the two of us. I just wish I would learn to not go so stupid with all the extra food I buy. Thank goodness for the freezer.
I am too and we had many wonderful years putting Christmas together for our families. Such fun we had. Now we just plan a meal for the two of us that doesn’t have any leftovers. 🙂
Now that’s a wonderful Christmas story! Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
I turned out fine that second year, but it was touch and go that first year. Thank you for hosting the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop. 🙂
It sounds like you helped your new hubby heal from old wounds and be ready for the joy of the Christmas season. I, too, am thankful for family, that my two adult “boys” still like to spend Christmas Eve and Christmas with their Mom!
I think that’s the case. We love Christmas but ladders are out at our ages. Breaking bones is not something we want to do. 🙂
Sandee and Zane I’m so truly happy to read baggage from the former life has disappeared.
They can carry such drama and trauma.
Hugs Cecilia
Getting rid of baggage is a wonderful thing. We’ve both done that. Big hug, my friend. 🙂
I am thankful for everything about Christmas. I am thankful that this year the whole family will be home. I am thankful for the true meaning of Christmas and the birth of a Savior. Yes, I am thankful for the music and message of Christmas. Merry Christmas to one and all.
I enjoy being part of your Christmases each year. I’m so glad we found each other. 🙂
Being one of six kids, and a Catholic family at that, Christmas was a big deal!
As an adult, I pass on a lot of holiday stuff, but we enjoy the decorations in the ‘hood.
Christmas was not a big deal while growing up, but I sure made up for it when I was grown. We enjoy everyone’s decorations too. 🙂
What a beautiful Thankful!!!!
Thank you, Sharon. Have a fabulous Thankful Thursday. 🙂
Your story reminds me of Russell and his Christmas attitude! At first he shared his dislike for Christmas, but now he enjoys it as it’s a Happy Time instead of his childhood memories of disappointment. He was the oldest of 9 and need I say more?
Have a lovely time together- that is what we do! xoxoxoxo
I didn’t know this about Russell. You understand then. Of course you do. Love to you, Russell and precious Miss Lucy. 🙂
Wonderful thankfuls ~ so glad you and hubby are enjoying life ~ and Christmas in some ways in just another day ~ celebrate the way you want to ~ beautiful memories are with you ~ Xo
Lots of hugs and love from me and Angel ~ Xo’s

We are indeed, Carol. We are thankful for each day we are given. Love and hugs to you and Angel. 🙂
Sounds like being with you brought the Christmas spirits out in your husband. That’s so sweet!
It did indeed. That first year there was a lot of patience on my part. It paid off. 🙂
Thanks for sharing your Christmas story, Sandee! 💞 Blessings, love and Merry Christmas!
You’re most welcome, Bette. Blessings, love and a Merry Christmas to you. 🙂
What a beautiful Christmas thankful today!
I was a little worried that first year, but it’s been most wonderful. 🙂
I’m glad you two have had many wonderful Christmas celebrations with all the trimmings to remember back on. We used to do all the decorating and big meals when the kids were little, but don’t any more either. We did go to my daughter’s today for our get together which was fun. <3
Being with family and enjoy the holiday is a good thing. Enjoy the rest of the week and have a very Merry Christmas. 🙂
We have always gone out of our way at Christmas. Everything is festive and bright……even now. However, getting the decorations up takes a little more time and we need a day or so to relax. The tree is not as big but our heart is full of cheer…..no not drinks, but cheer for all especially on this day.
We do enjoy Christmas and always have a special meal for two. It works for us. Christmas is such a magical time of year. 🙂
That’s wonderful, that he came to see the joy of the season. Hope you both have a blessed and beautiful day!
We’ve enjoyed Christmas for many years now. We still do, but without all the work. You and Mr. Sweetie have a blessed and beautiful day too. 🙂
Wonderful thankfuls. I am glad my hubby is into Christmas as much as I am too. XO
It’s a wonderful thing. 🙂
What a sweet story. I’m so glad you two have had so many wonderful Christmas celebrations! Merry Christmas!
I am too, Yvonne. It’s been most wonderful. Merry Christmas. 🙂
Thanks Sandee. I needed to hear your story. My Christmas will be a little better now. I am so glad that Zane now enjoys the day! Marv (and the other cats and Cinnamon) and I send you much happiness for the happiest night of the year! Happy Christmas Eve!
Sending all that back and more, my friend. Love and hugs all around. 🙂
Congratulations on turning hubby into a Christmas lover without having to do the whole three ghosts thing which is time consuming.
I’m so happy he embraced Christmas. We’ve had many wonderful Christmases together. 🙂
I’m thankful that my brother comes to visit with us every Christmas (and times in between). Especially with hubby’s dementia, I need some emotional support at Christmas. We used to get together with family, too, but now with the kids grown up with families of their own, it’s just not the same. But the pups make me laugh and enjoy the craziness. I am definitely thankful for my fur-babies as well!
Furbabes are the best aren’t they. They bring us such companionship and comfort. 🙂
I’m glad that Zane saw the light.
I am too. He didn’t need Christmas that first year. 🙂
It makes me so happy that you found one another. 😀 Blessings, my dear.
I’m happy we found one another too. We were meant to be. 🙂
