Thankful Thursday

It’s Thankful Thursday hosted by Brian of Brian’s Home. He wants us to post what we’re thankful for.

I think it’s a good thing to do each week. Focus on the positive things in our lives.

I’m thankful hubby enjoys Christmas. When we first got together he didn’t like Christmas at all. His former life wasn’t a happy one and Christmas just wasn’t on his radar. Our first Christmas together there were no decorations or Christmas dinner. My family didn’t visit as they usually did. Zane came and went several times during the day.

The second year when Christmas was nearing he made it apparent that he was ready to celebrate with all the decorations and a big family meal. We had a fabulous time decorating and our family meal was such fun. It was one of my favorite Christmases.

I’m thankful that we had so many wonderful Christmas seasons together. We decorated to the nth degree and had a ball with family and friends. We no longer decorate or do the family meals, but we sure did enjoy them when we did. Now we just spend the day together and have a special meal without all the leftovers. It works for us and I’m thankful for each Christmas we share together.

What are you thankful for today?

I think that’s wonderful that you were able to give Zane the joy of Christmas. We should all spend Christmas the way we want to. People tend to put too much pressure on themselves trying to create the perfect day.
Today I think I am just thankful for everything.

He helped a lot with that. He just accepted Christmas and was always there to help in anyway with shopping, wrapping, decorating and cooking. I’m a lucky gal, Miss Molly. 🙂

How wonderful that Zane learned to enjoy Christmas! Mom loves the big family get togethers but they don’t happen much anymore and she misses them. Christmas is quieter now, but we all still enjoy it.

He jumped right in that second year we were together. I think sometimes he enjoyed it more than I did. Ours is quiet now, but we still enjoy Christmas. 🙂

Awww, Sandee, what a wonderful story. I am glad you were able to get Zane in the Christmas spirit. Hubby and I both enjoy Christmas and enjoy decorating. It’s a magical time of the year. Happy Thursday. 😊

I am glad that Zane learned to enjoy Christmas. We don’t decorate much now as it is only the two of us. I just wish I would learn to not go so stupid with all the extra food I buy. Thank goodness for the freezer.

I am too and we had many wonderful years putting Christmas together for our families. Such fun we had. Now we just plan a meal for the two of us that doesn’t have any leftovers. 🙂

It sounds like you helped your new hubby heal from old wounds and be ready for the joy of the Christmas season. I, too, am thankful for family, that my two adult “boys” still like to spend Christmas Eve and Christmas with their Mom!

I am thankful for everything about Christmas. I am thankful that this year the whole family will be home. I am thankful for the true meaning of Christmas and the birth of a Savior. Yes, I am thankful for the music and message of Christmas. Merry Christmas to one and all.

Your story reminds me of Russell and his Christmas attitude! At first he shared his dislike for Christmas, but now he enjoys it as it’s a Happy Time instead of his childhood memories of disappointment. He was the oldest of 9 and need I say more?
Have a lovely time together- that is what we do! xoxoxoxo

I’m glad you two have had many wonderful Christmas celebrations with all the trimmings to remember back on. We used to do all the decorating and big meals when the kids were little, but don’t any more either. We did go to my daughter’s today for our get together which was fun. <3

We have always gone out of our way at Christmas. Everything is festive and bright……even now. However, getting the decorations up takes a little more time and we need a day or so to relax. The tree is not as big but our heart is full of cheer…..no not drinks, but cheer for all especially on this day.

We’ve enjoyed Christmas for many years now. We still do, but without all the work. You and Mr. Sweetie have a blessed and beautiful day too. 🙂

I’m thankful that my brother comes to visit with us every Christmas (and times in between). Especially with hubby’s dementia, I need some emotional support at Christmas. We used to get together with family, too, but now with the kids grown up with families of their own, it’s just not the same. But the pups make me laugh and enjoy the craziness. I am definitely thankful for my fur-babies as well!
