Thankful Thursday

It’s Thankful Thursday hosted by Brian of Brian’s Home. He wants us to post what we’re thankful for.

I think it’s a good thing to do each week. Focus on the positive things in our lives.

Make sure you link up to the Blog Hop at Brian’s Home and get the code to put on your blog. Then visit all the participants.

I’m thankful that we have air conditioning. We’re in another heatwave that’s going to last though Saturday evening. Thursday and Friday it’s supposed to get to 107 degrees and Saturday 104 degrees. On Sunday it will drop down to a cool 102 degrees.

I’m thankful that we have regular maintenance on our heater in the fall and our air conditioner in the spring. The HVAC folks will be getting lots of calls from people that don’t do regular maintenance and their poorly maintained system can’t keep up with this horrible heat.

I’m thankful that summer is almost here, but I’m not looking forward to the times where we have triple digit weather for numerous days. It’s a good time to stay inside where it’s cool.

What are you thankful for today?

I can’t even begin to imagine those temperatures! It is 10am and 55F here but when I looked at our weather station the humidity is 99% so I am very glad the temperature is low.

    • Sandee says:

Yes low temperatures is a good thing. We don’t get that kind of humidity though. I was in Texas during the summer one year and my ankles were huge because of the humidity. 🙂

  2. Cleo says:

Whoa, 107 degrees? My gosh, when it hits in the 80’s here I roast. I can’t even imagine those temps. Glad your system’s running smoothly, and stay inside when it gets that hot!

  3. Ann Thompson says:

Wow, those are some high temperatures. I guess I’m thankful that it has been in the low 70s here the past several days and it’s been getting quite cool in the evenings

  4. My GBGV Life says:

We’ve been in the 90’s for almost 2 weeks with a day or 100. No fun! Our A/C quit last week and Mom panicked. Thankfully we have amazing neighbors around us and one had the same thing happen last year. He got the part and had it up and running again a few hours later. It was already over 80 in the house. A/C is really something to be thankful for.

  5. Invisibly Me says:

Wow, that’s scorching! We’ve been very lucky to have a couple of days here of sunny warm weather, which I absolutely adore. Sadly it’s already back to cold and grey and storms are forecast (typical UK!) I can’t quite imagine the type of heat you guys can get over there during heatwaves. Very good job your air condition is in good working order! xx

  6. ande123 says:

So glad you all have the A/C. Just heard about your high temps on our news. Sure hope you all can stay cool.
    Have a great day.

  7. Sandra Hangey says:

If I had to pick just one thing that I am really thankful for today it would be air conditioning. I am not sure I could live without it

  8. Brian Frum says:

Yes, keeping the AC and furnaces in tip top shape sure is important and we’re thankful to have ours too. Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

    • Sandee says:

We had a neighbor that wouldn’t spend a dime on maintenance and he’s wait until it failed. Often is was way more expensive to fix. 🙂

  9. Caren says:

I heard about the heat out your way, please stay safe! Funny you mentioned the air/heater. I signed up for a program with a HVAC company here for regular Spring and Fall Air conditioner and furnace checks. You are right, sometimes things happen anyway, but doing routine check-ups can prevent a lot! Please stay cool and safe!

    • Sandee says:

It’s worked for us. We needed coolant this year and I’m sure glad we got it. It’s going to be a hot one until Sunday/Monday. We’re home and staying here. 🙂

Yikes! Temps over 100 F are too much for me! We’ve been in the high 80s and low 90s in my neck of the woods. The A/C in our apartment has issues every now and then, and we just send in a work order to have it fixed. It’s my birthday today, and I’m grateful for my hubby, my cat, my health, and my online friends. Happy Thursday! ❤️

Oh my 108??????? eeeek. We are expecting temps in the 90’s, that’s hot enough for me for sure! So glad you are diligent about maintenance- so are we- it pays to take care of stuff! Be cool!

  12. Jan K says:

Wow, that makes our heat wave of low 90’s recently look quite mild! We are back to normal now, though that heat will be back. We’re pretty lucky that our house stays fairly cool if we close off the windows on the sunny side. A couple strong fans and we can usually sleep comfortably. Hope your heat wave breaks soon, in the meantime, stay as cool as possible! Luke sends smooches (after drinking some cold water – LOL).

    • Sandee says:

Things will be back to normal on Monday. A long hot weekend ahead. The low 90s is a wonderful temperature for us here. Smooches to Luke and tell him I love him. 🙂

  13. Xena and Lucy says:

Just got off a Zoom call with a friend in CA, where they are in triple digits, and he was waiting on the A/C repair person. They slept in a hotel last night. So yes, even with the grumping that it’s too cold in the house, I sit out here on the porch thankful that I can cool off whenever I want.

    • Sandee says:

Yes this is happening to a lot of folks right now. The first long heatwave and folks’ air conditioners breakdown. We’ve been there and we don’t want to be there anymore. I’d love some of your cool weather. 🙂

  14. The OP Pack says:

Everyone here, human and canine and avian, are very grateful for a/c too. Ours has been running nonstop for a few days now. We won’t be looking forward to the electric bill, but Mom says she would be lost without good a/c.

Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber

  15. A ShutterBug Explores says:

Always good to have A/C when needed and same with heat and maintenance needed to be done for everything ~ even us humans ~ LOL ~

Lots of Xo’s to you ~ stay cool ~ Angel and Carol

  17. Herman and Dori says:

At Chateau Wonderpurr, we are now in the Hoomid and Soggy Season where every day we get rain in the afternoon, and while the grass and flowers enjoy a nice bath, it makes the air steamy, and does kinda frightening things to our meowmy’s hair. We have woods behind our house, and that brings out these teeny microscopic gnats that easily fly through the Catio screen, and land on us, making us itch. And this is mid June. Can’t wait for the next two months when it all gets…worse.

  18. Pamela Jackson says:

HAHA….Like you I am thankful for the air condition! I can remember my grandmother did not have air, in Georgia until after I as married and had a kid. My oldest is now 40. Can’t even remember what it was like but i do remember visiting with the box fans placed in the window and you struggled to go to sleep in the evenings…

  19. Anne M Robinson says:

The heat is something. You have us beat today! I am sorry. It is tough. I just came inside from my garage. Checking on the light for my flag and now I am having a sneezing fit. The three neighbors across the street all have these horrible trees that spew their yucky green mossy looking seeds which blow to our side of the street. I have to hose them away and pray they hit the drain at the end of the road. YUCK! My eyes water and I can not stop sneezing. Yet I am grateful for the a/c/ and being indoors which is where I love to be in this heat wave.
Have a great weekend. HUGS to you my friend

    • Sandee says:

Yes it’s mighty hot here and will be through Sunday. I’ll be glad when Monday only has a high in the low 90s. Yikes on the trees. This is a horrible time for allergies. Hugs back. 🙂

  20. Patricia says:

I am thankful for air conditioning, too. So far it has only gotten into the 90’s here, but in July the 100’s will be normal until September. Makes going for a walk difficult. I am not an early riser but if I want to walk I have to leave the house 5:30-6:00 am. Bummer.

  21. darlamsands says:

Biannual HVAC maintenance is important. We did have a system failuire but a call to the reliable technician uncovered the issue. And thank heaven as it was the hottest day so far here (upper nineties) outside Dayton, Ohio. ~hugs~ Best wishes!

  22. Jen says:

I hear you! We just got a new ac system last spring and what a difference it makes this year. Our old one was struggling to keep up with the 100 degree heat. Stay cool!

    • Sandee says:

Yes they get tired and need replacement. We’ll do that when the time comes. I’m glad you’re cool. You have much hotter temps than we do. 🙂
