Thankful Thursday

It’s Thankful Thursday hosted by Brian of Brian’s Home. He wants us to post what we’re thankful for.

I think it’s a good thing to do each week. Focus on the positive things in our lives.

Make sure you link up to the Blog Hop at Brian’s Home and get the code to put on your blog. Then visit all the participants.

Today I’m thankful for safety and security. There is so much unrest across the nation that I’m thankful that I feel reasonably safe here. I will tell you I have no intention on traveling to a big city.

I was thinking about our trip to Portland Oregon a few years ago. We had a nice time and felt safe. I would never go back to Portland again.

We met a couple recently that are near the unrest in Portland and they are frightened to be there. They are like us and are to old to move and start over. I pray for those that are so adversely affected.

What are you thankful for today?

I wish the best to your friends. Like you, I am grateful for trips we have taken in the past, especially to Europe. Who knows what the future holds and especially if we will be able to, or want to head over there again. Times sure have changed, and so swiftly too.

I’m not going to get to far from home anymore. It’s just not the same world anymore. 🙂

I feel the same. I live in a very small town and nothing much happens here. Crimes are mostly drug related, DUI and break ins. I can’t imagine how terrifying it must be to live in some of these cities where all the rioting has been going on.

It would be like living in a war zone. That’s what I hear from some folks. 🙂

Mom used to love to go to Portland and would not go now either. It was very scary when our own Twin Cities were having riots in May, just 20 miles from where we live. Why do people have to resort to destruction and violence. It has no purpose and is so very sad for most of us. We are glad you are safe.

Oh how scary. We had a bit of unrest close to here, but it was mostly peaceful. 🙂

Safe is a Good thing,we are taking a big step to make our townhoust style condo safer by getting a stair lift chare put it.

      Sandee says:

We have stairs too, but we’re doing fine getting up and down them. Hope that last for years and years. When it doesn’t we’ll do what you’re doing. 🙂

We, too, feel safe in our little mountain town and so thankful we’re here. Two hours from Atlanta is almost too close for me! I feel so bad for those like your friends who are caught near the turmoil. It’s horrible and disgusting that most of the protesters at these things are organized and bused in and paid. Signs of the times.

    • Sandee – California – Home of Awww Mondays, Happy Tuesday, and Wordless Wednesday.
      Sandee says:

Yes it’s a coordinated effort and those doing the harm are being paid for it. Signs of the times indeed. 🙂

I feel badly that your friends are afraid. We all are afraid, in one way or another, and it manifests itself differently for every person, every city, every state. If we remember to love our neighbor, and try to help each other, we can pull through.

That’s a wonderful thankful, safe is important. We’re probably going to move and start over in a few years, even though the peeps are old and retired. I hear a place with no other humans for miles is on the shopping list. Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

  10. Cecilia Upchurch says:

I agree 100% Sandee…I cannot imagine living in such a scary place as Portland, OR. Many of the graduate students from NCSU went on to Hillsboro, OR after they rec’d their degrees. And many are still living there with young families.
    So scary.

Hi Sandee, it must be a relief to live away from all the unrest, but so sad for the people who can’t get away. I hope that one day it all settles down, but until then stay safe away from any violence and this damned virus!

    xx

  14. Kathe W. says:

Great thankfuls Sandee. We are thankful that we left Oregon when we did. And we are thankful for all the police and firemen and women that literally put their lives on the line every day. I wish some folks would wake up and be thankful for what we have living in the USA. The current unrest in some cities is awful and very scary. Take care and do get out on the water! xoxoxo

I’m thankful that both of our families are safe. It’s sad that there’s so much strife in some of our big cities. I’m also grateful that my husband & I reached 38 years of marriage today & still get along.

    Magical Mystical Mimi says:

I am thankful that you are safe. We are safe here and if it gets too crazy we’ll go back up the mountain with a community of 100 people. I’m thankful to have places to go if it does get bad. So far in Boise it’s been a handful of peaceful protests with the random “wanna’ be” going around with their spray paint or my favorite, writing messages in chalk on the sidewalks in front of our City Council members. – I hope things get back to normal soon. And I always pray for your safety. <3

  18. -Eugenia says:

Living in a safe place is peace of mind, especially for those of that are older. When I was transferred to Atlanta, I was thrilled because I always loved the city. Once I retired, we moved further north and I love where we are now. Our little city is pretty safe with no major problems. Even though Atlanta is not having problems like Portland, it has its share of crime, etc. and I have no desire to go there. Our dream is to move further north to Blue Ridge, Ga. Sigh.

    Jen says:

Oh gosh, what a world we live in these days. I am so grateful for safety where I live as well. So much suffering right now- fires, unrest and more. Gratitude and kindness really are important.
