A cowboy, who just moved to Wyoming from Texas, walks into a bar and orders three mugs of Bud. He sits in the back of the room, drinking a sip out of each one in turn. When he finishes them, he comes back to the bar and orders three more. The bartender approaches and tells the cowboy, “You know, a mug goes flat after I draw it. It would taste better if you bought one at a time.”

The cowboy replies, “Well, you see, I have two brothers. One is an Airborne Ranger, the other is a Navy Seal, both serving overseas somewhere. When we all left our home in Texas, we promised that we’d drink this way to remember the days when we drank together. So I’m drinking one beer for each of my brothers and one for myself.”

The bartender admits that this is a nice custom, and leaves it there. The cowboy becomes a regular in the bar, and always drinks the same way. He orders three mugs and drinks them in turn.

One day, he comes in and only orders two mugs. All the regulars take notice and fall silent. When he comes back to the bar for the second round, the bartender says, “I don’t want to intrude on your grief, but I wanted to offer my condolences on your loss.”

The cowboy looks quite puzzled for a moment, then a light dawns in his eyes and he laughs. “Oh, no, everybody’s just fine,” he explains, “It’s just that my wife and I joined the Baptist Church and I had to quit drinking.” “Hasn’t affected my brothers though.”

Joining Tummy Tuesdays Blog Hop hosted by Cactus Catz. Post anything about food: a restaurant review, a recipe, food photography, a funny food quote, an essay on food — anything food-related because you know like the song says, “Food, glorious food.”
Black Bean Clams with Two Noodles – Zucchini noodles and shelf-stable stir-fry noodles combine for a hearty portion in this healthy stir-fry recipe. Chinese fermented black beans (they’re actually soybeans) lend a salty and savory backbone to this quick veggie-filled entree. They’re pungent, so a little goes a long way. Find them at Asian grocery stores, well-stocked supermarkets and online. Image Credit and Recipe: Click on Image

Heeheehee! Now i wonder if he’s going to get three rounds of two instead of two rounds of three. After all, he quit so he should have an extra for each of his brothers instead.

Never thought of mixing zucchini noodles with regular noodles. That would be tasty.

I had heard that joke before, but I had forgotten the punch line. Happens to me all the time. My husband’s love of that dish came to a screeching halt when he read “soybean clams.” As a New Hampshire yankee, he’d rather go hungry than eat fake clams. Me, on the other hand, think that’s a good feature so I’ll have his portion 😉

    • Comedy Plus says:

I agree with your hubby, but I would eat this. Far better for you I would thing. We could share it together. 🙂

I’m happy to have you as a blogging friend too. I’m met so many wonderful people since I moved to WordPress. 🙂
