I don’t care for all the noise anymore. I did when I was younger and always made sure my son had tons of fun during the 4th, but I just don’t care for all the noise. I don’t begrudge those that do though. 🙂

Believe it or not I have never had a dog who was afraid of fireworks. I did have one that ended up being terrified of thunder the last couple years of his life.

Worrying about the critters are what we’re supposed to do. We always made sure our babies were contained during the fireworks. So many scared babies run away and hide never to be found again. 🙂

I can’t believe it’s Friday again all ready. Time sure flies when you’ve retired early. ~grin~ I’m so sorry all your furry loved ones fear fireworks. Our cats have never really cared too much. My childhood dog Trixie was another matter. Adorable photo! Be well, my dear.

Loved your answers and wonder why your pets are afraid of fireworks. Oddly enough, Saphera loves them (she needs to wear the ‘thunder shirt’ for just about everything except fireworks) … Since she is the surrogate mom of everyone else, Purr doesn’t seem to mind fireworks, either …. this will be Katsu’s first 4th of July, so it will be interesting to see his reaction, but I expect him to follow Saphera and Purrseidon’s attitude.
I don’t know. It’s not as if we shielded her from them when she was a pup, but she grew to hate fireworks. 😉
Purrhaps its because of the smell or startling sound.
My staff often wonders if she’d also like to go to the rifle range, but they’ve never seen other pets there, so also speculate that this is yet another place we four-footers aren’t welcome. >^.^<
I’m okay with fireworks; it’s the firecrackers I hate! Recently, a 7-year old girl died from serious head injuries after she was struck by shrapnel from a firecracker that was lit by her neighbour.
What a shame about that precious little 7 year old girl. Not good at all. 🙂

What a pretty cub. I agree w/you on the 4th of July noise, although my kids all love it, so I indulge them.

I like public fireworks, not neighbor hood out in the street.
July 4th food of my choice, a hamburger, a hotdog, potato salad, watermelon, homemade ice cream, and chocolate brownies.
First in the morning, toilet, scales, coffee and half a granola bar breakfast while a quick monkey bath, get dressed, and brush teeth, in that order.
Next best is soda crackers with peanut butter and jelly.
