Friendly Fill-ins

Each Thursday Annie of McGuffy’s Reader and Ellen of 15andmeowing, provide Friendly Fill-In statements. On Friday, we post our answers with a link-up for you to join us with your own responses. We hope you will copy and answer these on your blog, but please remember to link up @ McGuffy’s Reader. If you need help, please let either Annie or Ellen know.

1. My favorite president is Ronald Reagan because he gave this speech that spoke so loudly to me, “A Time for Choosing”:

The Founding Fathers knew a government can’t control the economy without controlling people. And they knew when a government sets out to do that, it must use force and coercion to achieve its purpose. So we have come to a time for choosing … You and I are told we must choose between a left or right, but I suggest there is no such thing as a left or right. There is only an up or down. Up to man’s age-old dream—the maximum of individual freedom consistent with order—or down to the ant heap of totalitarianism. — October 27, 1964

2. This weekend, I have plans to have dinner with my granddaughter and great granddaughter. Always a treat.
3. I love my husband more than life itself.
4. I believe in the power of kindness. I know kindness starts with me. Kindness starts with you. If we each choose kindness the world would be far better for it.

Aww, those two are adorable. I especially like the black and white one.

Good answers for your fill ins. We could do with a whole lot more kindness in the world.

  2. Margie says:

That photo is just the best. Sure made this lady smile big time. Love your fill-ins Sandee. Kindness is such an important word and so necessary. Sandee, you and Zane have a fantastic Friday.

  3. Cathy Kennedy says:

    Sandee,

Ronald Reagan was an excellent president. He had a lot of common sense. Anytime government seeks to control our lives then things need to change. It’s worrisome that most people look to government to fix everything which says more sticking their noses in my business and that’s never a good idea. We must be responsible for ourselves and not look to the government for a handout. Reagan cut taxes creating a prosperous decade. People are poisoned with socialist ideas that tax cuts ONLY help the rich. I say, “Poppycock!” By cutting taxes you do help the rich but you help yourself, too. Who gives you your paycheck? Oh well…I can go on and on about this so I’d best stop here but you get my drift and since we’re so much a like then I’m gonna zip my lips. 🙂 I also love my husband more than life itself. I live by the golden rule and if others did the same then the world would be full of kindness with no conflicts, just peace and harmony. Wouldn’t that be wonderful? Thanks for sharing and have a good weekend, my friend!

If you want to see how well the government works, check the welfare inner cities, the American Indians. That’s a good place to see what the government can’t do. Kindness is so needed. 🙂

  4. Cranky says:

Reagan did have a way with words, he could say more with less than any President, probably because he was not a life long politician.

  5. Mandy says:

I hope you enjoy dinner with your family this weekend. <3.

And I too love my husband more than life itself. I don't know what I would do without him.

    Have a beautiful weekend!

  6. 15andmeowing says:

Very cute kittens. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. That is quite a speech, I always liked president Reagan too. I hope you have a wonderful time with your granddaughter and great-granddaughter. XO

    • Comedy Plus says:

You’re most welcome, Ellen. I enjoy doing them if we aren’t on the boat. If we are then it makes it hard to participate properly. 🙂

  7. Paul F. Pietrangelo says:

What the heck is going on , says the black cat. The other one is getting dizzy. Funny scene Sandee. Thanks for a happy morning my friend. See ya.

I try to outdo myself, and sometimes it works and other times not so much. Reagan was the first president that I really admired. 🙂

Great photo! And I got chills reading the quote. Ronald Reagan was my hero as a little girl. I sent him a get well card after the assassination attempt and got a note in return. Knowing now that a secretary likely handled it doesn’t take anything away from the memory (don’t know what happened to the note, sad to say).

I’m glad you liked my tacky joke about the skyscraper. Visiting St. Louis, I decided that when I’m elderly I would like an apartment in their uptown (downtown?) area with all sorts of restaurants and little shops within walking distance. Have a great weekend!

    • Comedy Plus says:

I’m so sorry you lost your note from his office. What a wonderful keepsake that would be.

I do love your sense of humor. 🙂

I wonder what those kittens find so fascinating? A great speech from a great President. Have fun at dinner with your granddaughter and great granddaughter. My hubby has been my world for 38 years and counting. And acts of kindness is a an excellent way to pass each day.

    • Comedy Plus says:

I’ve known my husband since 1978. I’ve loved him most of that time. We didn’t get together until the mid 90s though. The best thing that ever happened to me. 🙂

  11. Pamela says:

#3 – you’re adorable and so glad that you have a husband that makes you feel like that. #4 – A perfect answer and I agree with every word. Imagine what the world would be like if everyone went out of their way to be kind to their fellow man (and woman).
Have a lovely meal with your granddaughter and great granddaughter and enjoy your weekend.

  12. Jeanna says:

I’m with you on kindness and my parents loved Ronald Regan. I wonder what he’d think of the current state of the Republican party. Good quote anyhoo. Hope you have a fun and tasty dinner.

    • Comedy Plus says:

I think things are better with President Trump than they would be with Crooked Hillary. Sorry, she scares me to pieces. 🙂

  13. Jimmy says:

That is definitely a cool shot of those kittens.

I agree with you 100% on Ronald Reagan, we could sure use a man like him now. Seeing your Granddaughter and Great granddaughter will be a treat for sure, I know that you will have a wonderful time with them and it is obvious who the Love of your life is, I was tickled to see you say that, it is nice to see people give a shout out like that to their spouses. I also choose kindness, so many problems in our society today could actually be cured with a little kindness at the beginning.

    • Comedy Plus says:

Thank you, Jimmy. Looks like we are on the same page with a few things. Like kindness and loving our spouses. That’s a refreshing thing. 🙂

    • Comedy Plus says:

I’m looking forward to seeing my grands tomorrow. It’s always fun to catch up with what is going on in their busy lives. 🙂

    • Comedy Plus says:

We just got home from our wonderful visit and meal together. It was most fun. Our great is 7 and she’s losing her front teeth. So adorable. 🙂

  14. McGuffy's Reader says:

I love that you chose Reagan. I am not surprised, though. Sandee, I truly love the way you think. You have your priorities and life in order. I really respect that. I am truly thankful that we are friends. Big hugs.
