Silly Sunday

Silly Sunday is the place to come for weekly laughs. The rules are simple, just have fun.

This is a great opportunity to get to know other bloggers and have a laugh or two in the process. Here is how it works: Laugh and Link Up!

Oxymoron’s:

Why do “overlook” and “oversee” mean opposite things?

Why is “phonics” not spelled the way it sounds?

If work is so terrific, why do they have to pay you to do it?

If all the world is a stage, where is the audience sitting?

If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular?

If you are cross-eyed and have dyslexia, can you read all right?

Why is bra singular and panties plural?

Why do you press harder on the buttons of a remote control when you know the batteries are dead?

Why do we put suits in garment bags and garments in a suitcase?

How come abbreviated is such a long word?

Why do we wash bath towels? Aren’t we clean when we use them?

Why doesn’t glue stick to the inside of the bottle?

Why do they call it a TV set when you only have one?

Christmas – What other time of the year do you sit in front of a dead tree and eat candy out of your socks?

After each one I thought to myself…."hmmm, that's a good question". Now I'll be pondering all day trying to come up with the answers πŸ™‚

    • January 8, 2017 at 11:33 am

There are so many of these Ann. It's mind boggling. πŸ™‚

  2. January 8, 2017 at 2:09 am

Stop it! I don't like to think about these things πŸ™‚

    • January 8, 2017 at 11:33 am

Okay, then don't think about these. It does hurt the brain sometimes. πŸ™‚

  3. January 8, 2017 at 3:22 am

Ha ha..I never thought of all these, just take them for granted.

    • January 8, 2017 at 11:34 am

Yep, there are so many weird things in the English language. πŸ™‚

  4. January 8, 2017 at 3:47 am

They are interesting questions. Now someone needs to come up with the answers. Sandee, you and Zane have a fantastic day.

    • January 8, 2017 at 11:34 am

I would like to know the whys too Marg. πŸ™‚

  5. January 8, 2017 at 5:33 am

I prefer Oxymorons to regular Morons.

    • January 8, 2017 at 11:34 am

Me too Timothy, me too. πŸ™‚

  6. January 8, 2017 at 6:18 am

You have a great day too Ellen. πŸ™‚

Why is bra singular and panties plural? It really doesn't matter, because soon both of them will be disappearing. Ha,ha,ha. My joke of the day. I know, it wasn't that funny or good.

Have a beautiful Sunday Sandee & Zane. See ya

    Cruisin Paul

    • January 8, 2017 at 11:35 am

They will soon be disappearing? Really? πŸ™‚

  8. January 8, 2017 at 6:34 am

Love must be blind. Otherwise those with the neon green and purple hair wouldn't get any.

    • January 8, 2017 at 11:36 am

      You're a point here and you're a bird so it's even a better point. πŸ™‚

  9. January 8, 2017 at 6:52 am

hahah the one about the remote struck close to home! R will open up the remote and spin the batteries around trying to get them to work….meanwhile I am pondering why he just doesn't go downstairs and get two new batteries…I've even handed him the new batteries and yet he persists in trying to get all the good out of the two poor overworked and old batteries!

    • January 8, 2017 at 11:36 am

We're all guilty of the remote thing. Every single one of us. πŸ™‚

  10. January 8, 2017 at 6:57 am

These are going to bother me all day.

    • January 8, 2017 at 11:36 am

I'm sorry Joe. That wasn't my intent. πŸ™‚

  11. January 8, 2017 at 7:06 am

    LOL @ Paul πŸ™‚

These are all true, funny but true πŸ™‚

    Have a pondertastic SSS

    • January 8, 2017 at 11:37 am

Yes they are funny and true.

We always know what to expect from Paul don't we? πŸ™‚

we have to admit it is a weird language at times.

    • January 8, 2017 at 11:37 am

It sure is Jan, it sure is. πŸ™‚

  13. January 8, 2017 at 9:07 am

LOL Sandee! These are great! Thank you so much for the smiles and laughs, and I really like your blog background. I hope you had a nice weekend and that your week ahead will be fantastic. πŸ˜€

    • January 8, 2017 at 11:38 am

Thanks on the blog background. I found a fabulous site for seasonal backgrounds. You'll find the link on my sidebar. πŸ™‚

  14. January 8, 2017 at 10:02 am

That suitcase one is pretty cute! πŸ™‚ Oxymorons can be funny.

    • January 8, 2017 at 11:38 am

Yes they can. They can also be confusing at times. πŸ™‚

  15. January 8, 2017 at 10:33 am

We must think we have superpowers and can bring those batteries back to life.

    • January 8, 2017 at 11:39 am

Apparently so Alex. We all do the same thing don't we. πŸ™‚

  16. January 8, 2017 at 10:40 am

Those are perplexing questions? Just can't find the answers. Have a great day Sandee!

    • January 8, 2017 at 11:39 am

Yes it's the answers we need. I'll doubt we ever get them though. πŸ™‚

  17. January 8, 2017 at 11:05 am

These are great! The world is so weird! πŸ˜€

    • January 8, 2017 at 11:40 am

It sure is weird. Oh well, what can we do? πŸ™‚

  18. January 8, 2017 at 11:17 am

I love these because they really make you think. It makes me wonder about the people who came up with these references. What were they thinking?? I have to say. I am guilty of pressing those remote buttons. Or I shake it and smack it on my palm a couple of times. πŸ™‚

    • January 8, 2017 at 11:40 am

I think we can all agree on the remotes. I've seen so many approach the lack of batteries the very same way. πŸ™‚

  19. January 8, 2017 at 11:56 am

we wash our towels because they exfoliate us.. so your towel is full of dead skin when you use it to dry yourself πŸ™‚

    • January 8, 2017 at 12:38 pm

You are correct about this. We only wash our towels about once a week. πŸ™‚

  20. January 8, 2017 at 1:44 pm

my head hurts trying to figure some of these out! πŸ™‚

    • January 8, 2017 at 2:40 pm

Mine too Mike, mine too. πŸ™‚

  21. January 8, 2017 at 5:58 pm

But phonics is spelled phonetically! The "ph" says "f" and the "c" is a hard c, which says "k" Anyway, it's all funny, because English is so funny!

    • January 9, 2017 at 7:14 am

You are so very right. English is very difficult and often funny. πŸ™‚

  22. January 8, 2017 at 6:45 pm

Phonics HA HA HA yea, what is up with that!!!!

    • January 9, 2017 at 7:14 am

Anything to make you scratch your head in disbelief. πŸ™‚

  23. January 8, 2017 at 11:05 pm

  24. January 9, 2017 at 9:48 am

Hi Sandee, thank you for the giggle. I am now heading out to find a cross eyed person with dyslexia….. I just have to know!

    xx

    • January 9, 2017 at 10:12 am

Good luck with that. Let me know how it turns out. πŸ™‚

  25. January 9, 2017 at 12:07 pm

Pressing harder on the remote's button makes a dead battery work.

    • January 9, 2017 at 12:16 pm

It works sometimes and other times not so much. πŸ™‚

  26. January 10, 2017 at 6:30 pm

"Why do you press harder on the buttons of a remote control when you know the batteries are dead?"

    I always do this! hahaha!

    • January 11, 2017 at 7:33 am

We all do this Rocks. Sometimes it even works.

      Have a fabulous day. πŸ™‚
