Grand Floral Parade

Today we will enjoy the Coronation of the 2016 Queen of Rosaria and the Grand Floral Parade. I’ve been told this is a breathtaking event that I will remember forever. I’m looking forward to this experience.

A cherished highlight of the Portland Rose Festival, this popular procession is more than a spectacular floral-filled parade; itโ€™s a beloved annual tradition. For more than 100 years, Portland families, visitors and community groups have been making memories at the Spirit Mountain Casino Grand Floral Parade. A colorful reflection of local, regional and international communities, the parade draws hundreds of thousands of cheering viewers of every age, along a 4.2 mile route that winds through city streets and across the river.

Our afternoon is lunch on our own and then back to the hospitality room if we wish. It’s a bit early for cocktails so I’m guessing we won’t show up there until around 5 or so.

Tonight is the Grand Floral Ball where everyone dresses to the nines and enjoys a great meal. There is dancing after the festivities. Hubby and I will have dinner elsewhere and then enjoy some quiet time. These fancy balls are not our cup of tea. We’ve dressed up for events before, but have decided we don’t want to do that anymore.

This is our last day in Portland and tomorrow will find us back on the road heading toward home. We have one more stop to make and I’m looking forward to that visit very much. More about that tomorrow.

I'm not a get all dressed up kind of person. Give me jeans and a t-shirt and I'm happy. Comfort over style any day ๐Ÿ™‚

I'm not a dress up person either and dread having to go to functions where I have to get all dressed up to the nines. Enjoy the parade and coronation and have a great trip back home.

I enjoyed wearing a tuxedo and still do but parties are no longer in my life. It's to much hassle. Keep safe coming home my friends.

Have a wonderful Saturday Sandee & Zane. See ya.

It is too much hassle anymore. I'll pass too.

We're looking forward to heading home. Wonderful trip, but so many activities that we are tired. Hubby caught a cold so that means I'm next. Bugger. ๐Ÿ™‚

My hubby complains about wearing a tie to work so there's no way he's dressing up any other time! Hope you have a wonderful day and safe travels tomorrow!

I always wonder who is impressing whom when everyone gets all dressed up.

    • June 11, 2016 at 3:47 pm

Yep, there is that. I'm not interested in that mindset anymore. ๐Ÿ™‚

It's always five in the afternoon somewhere in the world.

    • June 11, 2016 at 3:47 pm

This is true. It's not five here yet, but it's Saturday so nobody cares. ๐Ÿ™‚

It sounds like you are enjoying the parts you like and skipping the parts you don't, and i like that!

    • June 11, 2016 at 3:48 pm

      That's exactly what we're doing. It's wonderful. ๐Ÿ™‚

  13. June 13, 2016 at 5:00 am

I adore your frankness and strong views and boldness to proclaim them.

    • June 13, 2016 at 6:49 am

Thank you. At our ages we've learned to just do what we want and not what we don't want. ๐Ÿ™‚
