Wednesdays Question

It’s Wednesday so that means it’s question time. It’s time to ponder and then answer just one question. Okay, you can add all you want as a reason for your answer too. We’d all like that.

Here’s this weeks question: If you could pick a book you’ve read to make into a movie, which one would you choose?

I know Tom Cruise did one Jack Reacher movie, but I’d like to see every single Jack Reacher book made into a movie. This time find a hunk that’s the same height and weight of Jack Reacher.

Reacher is 6 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 220-250 pounds of muscle and has a 50 inch chest; he has a very high stamina and virtually no body fat, though he is not a good runner (High Heat). In Never Go Back, he was physically described as having “a six-pack like a cobbled city street, a chest like a suit of NFL armor, biceps like basketballs, and subcutaneous fat like a Kleenex tissue.” In his youth, his physical appearance was described as that of a greyhound. He also reveals that his size is purely genetic; he states in Persuader and Never Go Back that he is not much of an exercise enthusiast. He has dirty-blond hair and ice-blue eyes. Source: Wikipedia

Make Me is the upcoming book in the Jack Reacher series written by Lee Child. The novel will be the twentieth book in the series. It is tentatively scheduled for release on September 8, 2015.

The one book I've read that I absolutely was giddy about when I heard they were making it into a movie was…. Lord of the Rings. The Hobbit and LotR are my favorite books.

Yeah, I'm such a romantic. hahahahahaha!

    big hugs xoxo

I am too. I like your choices. πŸ™‚

  2. August 5, 2015 at 3:54 am

I can't say I've ever read a book and thought, "that would make a great movie". Hmmm… Perhaps War Brides.

    • August 5, 2015 at 8:34 am

I think we've all read a book that we'd like to see made into a movie. πŸ™‚

  3. August 5, 2015 at 4:35 am

That is a good question. I haven't read any books lately except a great book by a gal that was sexually abused as a child and she has turned to animals. She saves all kinds of animals and it is well written etc. but don't know if it would make a good movie. For any animal people, it is 'No Better Medicine'. Sandee, you have a great day along with Zane and Little Bit.

    • August 5, 2015 at 8:35 am

That would be a great movie Marg. πŸ™‚

Love the new look. Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline

    • August 5, 2015 at 8:35 am

      Perhaps it will happen. πŸ™‚

  5. August 5, 2015 at 5:22 am

There's 20 of 'em??? I saw one of the movies on a plane ride. I thought it was good and only had to turn my head during one scene. πŸ˜‰

    • August 5, 2015 at 5:24 am

And I would like to see The Mouse and the Motorcycle made into a movie (if it hasn't been already and I just missed it).

    • August 5, 2015 at 8:35 am

Yes, come September there will be 20 of them and I'd love to see everyone of them made into a movie. πŸ™‚

    • August 5, 2015 at 8:36 am

Good choice and fun too. πŸ™‚

  6. August 5, 2015 at 5:59 am

Most of what i read isn't the kind of stuff that gets made into movies. Unless it's really bad adaptations of Bible stories. (Do not ever let Hollywood tell you what the Bible says, they get it wrong.)

    • August 5, 2015 at 8:36 am

Well most of Hollyweird isn't into the Bible. πŸ™‚

  7. August 5, 2015 at 6:04 am

Since we aren't movie folks, I don't think about that leap when reading, but I am in agreement on anither Jack Reacher movie…minus that Cruise imposter. Sheesh. Who cast him?!

    Big hugs, honey…

    • August 5, 2015 at 8:37 am

The movie was pretty good, but Reacher is Reacher and Cruise is well…Cruise. πŸ™‚

  8. August 5, 2015 at 7:14 am

Great question indeed, maybe the Jeffrey Archer chronicles I'm reading at the moment. Greetings!

    • August 5, 2015 at 8:37 am

      That would be good. πŸ™‚

  9. August 5, 2015 at 7:28 am

I read such little fiction, most of my reading is pretty dry. But, I do think "A Brave New World" would make a great movie.

    • August 5, 2015 at 8:37 am

Perhaps they will do just that. πŸ™‚

    • August 5, 2015 at 9:10 am

I think the British need to do it though. Hollywood would just cast Tom Cruise in it, and make it a love story.

    • August 5, 2015 at 4:18 pm

You know, I can't stand Tom Cruise. Let the British do it. I agree. πŸ™‚

  10. August 5, 2015 at 8:36 am

None, they always seem to butcher them once they hit the big screen πŸ™‚ I like to keep them the way I created them in my mind.

    • August 5, 2015 at 8:38 am

You have a valid point. As you can see I've got a thing for Reacher. πŸ™‚

  11. August 5, 2015 at 9:03 am

I mostly read on the internet or how to books on woodworking. Neither would make for a good movie.

    • August 5, 2015 at 9:06 am

What about some of those beautiful women you post. Wouldn't that make a great movie for you? You could pick out your favorite stars. πŸ™‚

  12. August 5, 2015 at 9:50 am

Tom Cruise is not Jack Reacher. Those would make awesome movies. I'm a huge fan of the Agent Pendergast books by Lincoln and Childs. However part of me doesn't want them to be movies because they'll screw them up. Then there's the Gabriel Allon series by Daniel Silva… If there was one movie/book, I'll say THE EIGHT by Katharine Neville. Freaking awesome book. If done well, would make a freaking awesome mini-series.

    • August 5, 2015 at 4:09 pm

I know Tom Cruise is NOT Jack Reacher. Disappointing and then some. πŸ™‚

  13. August 5, 2015 at 9:53 am

I am fond of short stories and hence the question of making a movie does not arise.
    Have a great day!

    • August 5, 2015 at 4:10 pm

      That's true, I hadn't thought of that. πŸ™‚

  14. August 5, 2015 at 10:11 am

The guy who played Thor is closer to Reacher than tiny Tom Cruise. As for my choice for a book made into a movie… Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace. It would never happen because the book is too complex for a screenplay to do it justice. Maybe a long mini series…

    • August 5, 2015 at 4:10 pm

There are so many great books out there. I'd love to read them all too. πŸ™‚

Off the top of my head I can't think of the titles but I've read a couple free books that I've thought would make good movies.

    • August 5, 2015 at 4:11 pm

Some books come to life so well that you want to see it for real. πŸ™‚

  17. August 5, 2015 at 3:48 pm

The Book of Wombies would make a good movie!

    • August 5, 2015 at 4:11 pm

Of course it would Binky. πŸ™‚

  18. August 5, 2015 at 5:25 pm

"The Storied Life of A.J.Fickry" written by Gabrielle Zevin I thoroughly enjoyed this!
Or else the fabulous book "The Boys in the Boat" by Daniel Brown
ps LOVE Reacher …I've read them all! Can't wait for the next one! Big hugs- great question!

    • August 6, 2015 at 8:13 am

I LOVE Reacher too. Lee Child writes so very well. Big hugs back. πŸ™‚

Easy!!! Six Years by Harlan Coben. One of my favorite books of recent years. Hugh Jackman was cast in 2013 and the movie seemed like it was going forward…then nothing. There was also 13 Reasons Why–an awesome book–that was being made into a movie starring Selena Gomez. Also stalled. πŸ™

    • August 6, 2015 at 8:14 am

Yikes on the stalled almost movies. I hate it when that happens. πŸ™‚

  20. August 5, 2015 at 7:06 pm

Dear Sandee, That is a tough question!! Most of the books I have read have been made into movies!! I think all of them have! lol xoxo Catherine

    • August 6, 2015 at 8:14 am

You're picking the right ones to read then. Awesome. πŸ™‚

  21. August 5, 2015 at 7:50 pm

You know what? Normally I could answer this, but it is almost 11pm. I read sooooooooooo many books that they are all swimming around in my head right now.
Keep meaning to tell you, I LOVE the new look of your blog! xoxo

    • August 6, 2015 at 8:15 am

Thanks on loving my new girly look. Get some sleep. πŸ™‚

You picked Arnold in his prime as a body builder for your Jack Reacher character.
I'm just not a bookworm so I think most of the movies I've seen were based on books, even if they were comic books. Took the grandson to see Ant Man today. Much better than I expected.

    • August 6, 2015 at 8:16 am

Arnold could have pulled off Reacher far better than Tom Cruise. Glad you liked Ant Man. πŸ™‚

Blood Line, Blood Bonds and Blood Roots – a three book series that would be a fantastic, albeit creepy movie. This was the first to come to my mind, but now that I am typing, I am thinking Pop Travel by Tara Tyler.

    • August 6, 2015 at 8:16 am

Lots of people are into creepy, so these would probably be a big hit. πŸ™‚

I love the Stephanie Plum series from Janet Evanovich. They tried to make a movie and it was terrible. So I would like to see them try that again, but with better casting. Another that I think was already a movie was Tuesdays with Morrie and Fried Green Tomatoes. So apparently all my choices are already taken! hahaha.

    • August 6, 2015 at 8:17 am

I've read all her books too. It would be fun to see these come to life. Stephanie is a hoot. πŸ™‚

  25. August 7, 2015 at 2:06 am

I read a great book titled Prey by Michael Crichton & really wish they'd make a movie of it

    • August 7, 2015 at 11:02 am

Oh he's a great author. I love all his reads. πŸ™‚
