Wednesdays Question

It’s Wednesday so that means it’s question time. It’s time to ponder and then answer just one question. Okay, you can add all you want as a reason for your answer too. We’d all like that.

So here’s this weeks question: What is your response to this video? AndrΓ© Rieu – Amazing Grace (Live in Amsterdam)

I will add my thoughts in comments later today.

I liked the hymn very much, beautiful playing! Did not like the orange bow ties but loved those furry hats on the bagpipers. Liked the colorful dresses too! Very well done video! Great way to start my day!

Thank you for starting my day with such beauty. I've never heard a bagpipe sound so good!

Outstanding instrumental, but does anyone know or truly understand the lyrics.

    • April 2, 2015 at 9:46 am

I know and understand the lyrics. πŸ™‚

It was beautiful. I find it hard to keep a dry eye when I hear bagpipes even when not associated with a sad event.

Me too Cube, me too. πŸ™‚

  7. April 1, 2015 at 5:19 am

That's one of my all-time favorite songs but I'm not a fan of bagpipes. Well done, but not a version of the song I would listen to again.

    • April 2, 2015 at 9:46 am

Mine too and this is the best rendition ever in my book. πŸ™‚

  8. April 1, 2015 at 5:21 am

That was fantastic. I loved it. I don't get to hear bagpipes very often. Thanks Sandee and hope you and Zane and Little Bit have an Amazing Day.

It's a lovely hymn and every time I hear it I feel like I'm at a funeral especially of those in uniform. To me this hymn show respect for the person. I also feel at ease listening to it. That's it. Have a wonderful Wednesday Sandee. See ya.

The Wi-Fi in this Corner Bakery is not up to snuff, won't play. That said, just the thought of that song resonates with many of us — inspiring and humbling at the same time.

    • April 2, 2015 at 9:49 am

Sorry you didn't get to hear it. It was very well done. πŸ™‚

  13. April 1, 2015 at 7:31 am

Sandee thanks for this lovely video. Amazing Grace is a song that has been sung at funerals and weddings of our family and dear friends. My dearest friend Amy sang it at Russell's and my wedding . It never fails to bring tears to my eyes.
    Have a wonderful day!

    • April 2, 2015 at 9:49 am

It does the same to me Kathe. πŸ™‚

  14. April 1, 2015 at 8:27 am

  15. April 1, 2015 at 8:32 am

Beautiful. This hymn never grows old to me.

    • April 2, 2015 at 9:50 am

Me either. I've lost count how many times I've listened to this video. πŸ™‚

  16. April 1, 2015 at 9:17 am

That's a beautiful version of this classic hymn, Sandee! The lyrics always inspire great feelings of hope. But even without hearing them sung, the melody and played in this video still has the same effect. Thank you! I hope you have a truly wonderful day! πŸ™‚

    • April 2, 2015 at 9:50 am

Very well said Marcia. Very well said. You have a wonderful day too. πŸ™‚

You cute yourself off. Gibbs probably did something. πŸ™‚

  20. April 1, 2015 at 12:41 pm

oops don't know how I managed to publish that before I was done. Any way. having some hearing problems I found it distracting to have the bagpipes playing along with the violins. For me they didn't blend well together. I'm sure to someone who hears well it sounded much more appealing

    • April 2, 2015 at 9:52 am

To each his own Ann. We can't all love the same things. πŸ™‚

  21. April 1, 2015 at 3:38 pm

I thought it was pretty good. I hear a lot of his music on the radio.

    • April 2, 2015 at 9:52 am

      I love his music. πŸ™‚

  22. April 1, 2015 at 4:47 pm

Love, just love the sound of bagpipes. Simply great!

    • April 2, 2015 at 9:52 am

Yes, simply great sizes it up nicely. πŸ™‚

  23. April 1, 2015 at 5:14 pm

Beautiful song. Amazing Grace is a song that always makes me feel sad…I think because it's played at funerals? My stepdad took us to a concert that his British friend's son was playing in here in the States. It was two hours of bagpipes. Two hours of bagpipes will make you realize just how annoying bagpipes can be.

    • April 2, 2015 at 9:53 am

I love bagpipes, but not two hours worth. That would grate on my very last nerve. πŸ™‚

  24. April 2, 2015 at 5:51 am

Outstanding! So would love to be sitting in the audience. We both love this old hymn, and just sang it in church a couple of weeks ago. Dick asked me several years ago to include this in his Celebration of Life service. Of course!

You are such a joy, Sandee. Big hugs, honey…

    • April 2, 2015 at 9:53 am

I would love to be in the audience too. I'd be crying I'm sure. πŸ™‚

  25. April 2, 2015 at 6:47 am

They did a good job. I'd love to see it in person.

    • April 2, 2015 at 9:54 am

I would love to see this in person too. They are all so talented. πŸ™‚

    Just one response?
    1. Very pretty playing.
    2. Mrs. Jim knew who he was without reading, but wasn't sure about the spelling.
    3. I would have liked a singer to go along with at least a part of it.
    4. The cheapest seat may be $90, or even higher..

His music is very distinctive isn't it. I just love him. I would have loved to have been there. I'd pay gladly. πŸ™‚

Everyone has their own sounds they enjoy. This one just was the very best to me. πŸ™‚

  29. April 3, 2015 at 6:13 pm

Loved it. I dunno how people reckon bagpipes are annoying. I love them when well played. It did seem odd the way the woman was dressed to play the bagpipes though. Guess I'm used to seeing people play them in the traditional Scottish dress.

    • April 4, 2015 at 11:39 am

I love the bagpipes, but not for long. They can wear on your last never if it's too long. Way loud. πŸ™‚
